How Not To Do It

Drum Tourniquets

Wrong Way Wednesday

Good spill response doesn’t come on a roll

Duct tape. I love it. As a man, I am REQUIRED to love it. And because of that love, this isn’t easy to write… duct tape has its limitations. (I’ll understand if you unsubscribe now)

I think today’s WWW very accurately shows that duct tape is not the best product to stop a leaking drum. We don’t know the story behind the image but it would appear that the hazmat team patched up two holes in the blue drum, and are working on a third in the green drum.

If they had Ultra-Drum Tourniquets as part of their spill kit, they could have been done a long time ago and kicking back with a cold one. Not only would it have been done in seconds but they wouldn’t have liquid continuing to leak from the drum.

The Ultra-Drum Tourniquet uses very powerful magnets to secure its sealing pad over a leak. Responders simply place the Tourniquet over the leak and push both sides of the stainless steel backing plate toward the drum until the magnets stick, and that’s it.

Problem solved.

And now you know. Happy Wednesday!
